REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 250 nmi south of Biloxi, MS. It measured approximately 4.3 nmi in length and up to 0.17 nmi wide. The anomaly was dark in color and was distinct from nearby cloud shadows. Some feathering was apparent. Wind speed and direction at the time of the image could not be determined due to a lack of nearby observations. The anomaly appeared to be a bilge dump, possibly from a vessel traveling southward, although no such vessel could be seen in the image.

UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly extended under cloud cover, potentially obscuring the full extent of the anomaly. No point source could be determined, and no oil slicks were reported in the area. Some possible natural oil seeps were seen to the north of the anomaly. Given these factors, confidence that this is oil is medium.
