REPORT DATE: 04-08-2019 REPORT TIME: 1930 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-07-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1655 UTC DATA SOURCE: WORLDVIEW3 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 1.24 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 1.34 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.The anomaly believed to originate from the destroyed Taylor platform site extended approximately 3.29 nmi to the southwest, and was up to 0.24 nmi in width. The anomaly was black (possible thin oil) with white/silver shimmer segments of possible thicker oil, and was out of place from the surrounding ocean surface. Winds were from the east at 10 to 15 knots, consistent with the slight feathering signature. UNCERTAINTIES: The full extent of the anomaly could not be determined because it extended past the available imagery.
