REPORT DATE: 06-05-2019 REPORT TIME: 1300 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6627 IMAGE DATE: 06-04-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1536 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°24'03" N/72°22'13" W AREA: 0.05 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 1.26 nmi to the east from the site of the Coimbra tanker shipwreck, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.02 nmi in width. It appeared dark and stood out well against the background. Winds at the time of image were from the west at 10-15 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: There are no uncertainties.
