REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An oil slick was observed in false color satellite imagery. The nature of the point source could not be determined, but it was located 11 nm SE of Bayou Blanc in Marsh Is. The anomaly was jagged with sharp turns near the source and was continuous for 9.5 nm and broken for an additional 4.2 nm where the anomaly extended from NE to SW. Consistent with the orientation of the anomaly near its source, winds at the time were from the east at 10 knots and model ocean currents were from the southeast, The anomaly tested negative for vegetation. Thicker oil could be identified in two segments near the source.

UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly may extend even farther to the southwest than what is indicated here. The anomaly existed in near shore waters amidst tightly packed bathymetric lines in waters laden with sediments as a result of substantial runoff.
