REPORT DATE: 02-08-2025 REPORT TIME: 1520 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 98 IMAGE DATE: 02-08-2025 IMAGE TIME: 1149 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 29°35'55" N/88°38'15" W AREA: 52.76 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located in the northern Main Pass area off the Louisiana coast. The possible oil stood out from the background environment with strong contrast and well defined edges. The possible oil was broken into segments, with both larger oiled areas measuring 10 NM long, and the widest point approximately 5 NM. Winds were from the south at 12 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: There were multiple facilities and pipelines in the area which made it difficult to determine the source.
