REPORT DATE: 04-28-2025 REPORT TIME: 0000 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 04-27-2025 IMAGE TIME: 1652 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°04'30" N/89°10'49" W AREA: 0.22 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The area of oil was associated with NOAA Response Link Hotline #10964 in the Foxs Pond area just north of South Pass. The scene featured numerous segmented oil slicks that spanned an area that was approximately 3.0 x 0.5 nautical miles. The area of oil meandered generally south of the oil facility and appeared darker than the surrounding water, exhibiting strong contrast and a dark red/brown hue. Due to the characteristics described above and the close proximity to the NOAA Response Link Hotline, confidence in this report was High. Winds at the time of the imagery were SE at approximately 5-10kts. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the color of the oil and the surrounding scene, relatively thicker oil could not be differentiated from the rest of the slick. Possible oil was observed among the marsh immediately north and west of the oil facility but was tough to distinguish from the land areas.
