REPORT DATE: 05-29-2025 REPORT TIME: 0240 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 68 IMAGE DATE: 05-28-2025 IMAGE TIME: 1704 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°15'07" N/89°04'06" W AREA: 0.98 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located in the Main Pass area of Louisiana, block 68, and measured approximately 5.5 NM long from the suspected point source at the south to the northeast end of the sheen and image footprint. This report may be related to the recent NRC ResponseLink Incident Report 1432276, which identified a release of crude oil from a platform flowline in this block. Winds were from southeast at 5 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: The extent of possible oil could only be estimated for the imagery available, but may have extended beyond the eastern edge. Anomalies from different facilities positioned to the north and west of the identified source in this report are also visible in the map extent, and each were reported individually. No areas of silver sheen were present to indicate possible thicker oil, which reduced confidence relative to the other anomalies.
