REPORT DATE: 07-06-2025 REPORT TIME: 0300 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST DELTA 102 IMAGE DATE: 07-05-2025 IMAGE TIME: 1629 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2C MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°50'34" N/89°40'53" W AREA: 3.62 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The possible oil appeared to emanate from an active producing platform in the West Delta Area of Louisiana. It measured approximately 2.92 nmi in length and up to 0.75 nmi in width. The suspected oil slick appeared dark in color with silvery/white shimmer in the center, consistent with the typical visual signature of surface oil in sun glint. Areas of increased brightness suggested the presence of thicker oil. Winds at the time of image were 8 knots from the NNE. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a suspected point source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: This slick was the subject of a previous report, NRC #1436106. However, the point source identified in the previous report from Landsat imagery was blurred in imagery, and another platform on the right side of the anomaly was seen.
