SOCC has announced the following:
Following more than 13 years of service NOAA-14 (NOAA-J) will be decommissioned on 23 May 2007 (JD143). The decommissioning will occur during a contact that starts at 14:44 UTC (10:44 a.m. east coast local).
NOAA-14 was launched on 30 Dec 1994 with an original LTAN of 1330. Its current LTAN is now 2134. The spacecraft engineering team in the Office of Satellite Operations was granted approval from NESDIS headquarters to proceed with plans to decommission the spacecraft after evaluating its health and ability to provide meaningful data to the scientific and weather community.
