DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2310Z April 18th, 2025
SMOKE: Southeastern United States/Gulf of America... A large area of light density smoke was observed this evening blowing northward across the Southeastern United States from scattered smoke plumes. Smoke was observed drifting westward into the Gulf of America from the Florida panhandle. Cuba/Atlantic Ocean/The Bahamas... A large area of light density smoke from seasonal fire activity was observed blowing southwestward across central Cuba into the Atlantic Ocean. Prominent areas of light density smoke from wildfires were also seen blowing southwest from the Abaco Islands and Andros Island into the Atlantic Ocean. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Gulf of America/Pacific Ocean/Yucatán Peninsula... An area of light density smoke and aerosols attributed to widespread seasonal fire activity, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed today blowing northeasterly across the country drifting into the Gulf of America off the eastern coast of Mexico. In southern Mexico, smoke was observed drifting southwestward into the Pacific Ocean. In the Yucatán Peninsula, smoke was observed blowing northwest into the Gulf of America.
