DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central-Eastern Canada/Midwest US... A widespread are of light density smoke was observed stretching from Central Alberta and Saskatchewan southeast through Manitoba, Ontario, and across the northern U.S. Midwest, including North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and portions of Illinois and Indiana. Several embedded areas of medium density smoke were noted, particularly across Saskatchewan, Southern Manitoba and northern Michigan. Pacific Northwest/Northern California… Ongoing fires in northern California and southern Oregon generated light to medium smoke that drifted northeastward into interior Oregon and northern Nevada. Mexico/Sonora/Chihuahua... A pair of suspected wildfires occurring near the border between the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua have produced emissions of Light to Medium smoke plumes that drift eastwards towards the Texan western border. AEROSOL/SMOKE: South and Central Mexico/Gulf States/Gulf of America... An expansive area of smoke and aerosols produced from ongoing fire activity, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources was observed extending across southern and eastern Mexico, Pacific Ocean just south of western Mexico, southern Texas, and the Gulf of America. The aerosol/smoke mixtures continued to extend north and east into the Gulf States. Cardona THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
