DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1430Z June 27, 2025
SMOKE: Northern Alaska and Canada... Widespread wildfire activity in the northwestern Canada, particularly in central Yukon, Northeastern British Columbia, Southwestern Northwest Territories, Central Alberta and Saskatchewan, continued to produce significant emissions resulting in an large area of light to moderate density smoke extending from Northwestern-Northern Alaska to Northern Canada reaching the Northern Hudson Bay. Two smaller pockets of light-density smoke could also be observed across Eastern Saskatchewan and Western Manitoba, and over Northwestern Ontario as a result of nearby wildfires. Utah/Wyoming/Colorado... Predominantly light-density smoke from wildfires in Southwestern Utah was seen spreading northeastward across the majority of that state, and extending into Southern Wyoming and Northern Colorado. Ohio Valley... Remnant light-density smoke from previous day burning along the Mississippi Valley is moving northeastward over parts of the Ohio Valley this morning. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
