THROUGH 1430Z July 4, 2025
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada… Wildfires continued throughout central Alaska, northern British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba which produced plumes of thick smoke and larger areas of moderate smoke density. In Alaska the smoke moved to the west, while Canadian smoke moved to the east and circulated south. Southwestern United States/Central Plains/Eastern States… The Madre fire in southern California continued to produce thick to moderate density smoke which spread partially south and then circulated west offshore Baja. A large area of light density smoke also moved to the northeast across Nevada, Arizona and over the Rockies where it mixed with the smoke from Canadian fires before moving east across the central plains and eastern states. Light to medium density smoke continued to spread offshore into the Atlantic. Mills THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
